Betty Ruth Hardegree

Betty Ruth Hardegree went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the age of 94 years. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Ruby McMeekin of Big Spring, Texas, her husband Craig Hardegree of San Angelo, Texas and her second husband, Alphonse Schwartz of Grape Creek, Texas.
Mrs. Hardegree is survived by her children, Mike Hardegree of Grape Creek, Texas, Cindy Bright of Cedar Park, Texas and David Hardegree of San Angelo, Texas; her grandchildren, Gary Hardegree of Christoval, Texas, Adam Bright of Huntsville, Texas, Sarah Johnson of Leander, Texas, Rebecca Crouse of Dallas, Texas, and Matthew Hardegree of Norfolk, Virginia; and great grandchildren, Kenley Johnson and Case Johnson of Leander, Texas and Preston Bright of Huntsville, Texas. She is also survived by her siblings Jean Little of Tyler, Texas, Brenda Watts of Midland, Texas and James McMeekin of Hamilton, Texas.
Mrs. Hardegree was born in Mitchell County on April 18, 1930. Following her marriage to Craig Hardegree in 1947, they moved to San Angelo where they operated Hardegree (formerly Burley) Lumber Company and built homes for families all over west Texas for over 40 years.
Mrs. Hardegree was a member of the Southgate Church of Christ in San Angelo and the Pond Springs Church in Austin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make contributions in Mrs. Hardegree's name to the Alzheimer's Association or your favorite charity.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Harper Funeral Home at 2:00pm. Burial to follow at Belvedere Memorial Park.
