Betty Madison Harrison Goodhart, 88, passed away on December 29, 2025, at Traceway Methodist Retirement Community, Coen House in Tupelo, MS. She was born July 13,1937, to the late Sam L. Madison and Florence Lorraine McDonald Madison. Graveside Memorial services will be held March 14, 2026, at 10:00 am at Cook’s Chapel Church Cemetery in the Forestdale Community of Neshoba County, MS, with Bro. Dennis Duvall Officiating.
Mrs. Goodhart, a native of Neshoba County attended Neshoba County Schools and East Central Junior College, Decatur, MS. She married Norman “Buck” Harrison in January 1955 and together they had one daughter, Donna Harrison East. Betty worked for the Sears Roebuck Company for over 20 years, serving as a salesperson, assistant store manager and later retired from Sears when she met and married Don Goodhart of Browns Valley, MN. She relocated and lived in Browns Valley for 18 years. Betty and Don enjoyed life together until he died in 1985. She remained in Browns Valley until April 2000, when she moved home to Mississippi to live near her daughter and grandchildren in Amory, MS. She became a vital member of the Amory community through her involvement in First Methodist Church and her employment at Mid-South Fine Printers, where she worked until she was 82 years old. During her 25 years in Amory, Betty’s most important roll was a great grandmother to her precious Great Grandson, Tate.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Donna Harrrison East (David) of Amory, MS grandchildren; Leslie East Springfield, Amory, MS, and Stephen East, New Orleans, LA and great grandson, Tate Harrison Springfield, Amory, MS. Sisters, Rose Madison Weatherly, Saucier, MS, and Brenda McCotter, Slidell, LA. Sisters-in-law, Lynda Chisolm Madison, Philadelphia, MS and Karen Goodhart, Browns Valley, MN. She is also survived by many cousins of the Madison family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Sam L. Madison and Florence Lorraine McDonald Madison, stepmother, Trudy Madison, brothers Sam Alan Madison and Jackie Madison, Husband Don Goodhart, sister-in-law, Dorthy Goodhart and brothers-in-law, Jack Goodhart and Roger Goodhart.
