Betty Huffman, 95, Selby, SD, died Friday, November 28, 2025 at the Walworth County Care Center, Selby.

Betty Louise Brown, youngest of Christina (Kraft) and Sebastian Brown's 10 children, was born at Aberdeen, SD on June 6, 1930. She was brought up in Aberdeen where she attended St. Mary's Parochial School through 8th grade and Aberdeen Central High School (Class of 1948). Betty married Jack Huffman at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen on September 2, 1948. They lived in Aberdeen until July 1957 when they relocated to Selby where Jack was employed at Rabenberg Implement, a business the couple eventually owned. They sold the business in 1981, purchased the Carol Peterhoff farm near Selby and went into farming. In retirement, she and Jack wintered in Arizona. Jack died November 18, 2013 and Betty continued to live in Selby. She belonged to St. Anthony's Catholic Church and St. Anthony's Altar Society. Betty was an avid golfer and bowler, having attended many state and several national bowling tournaments. She even won a couple's state tournament with Agnes Schnaible. Betty loved playing bridge, her "Vikes", and collecting Carnival Glass and Depression Glass.

Betty is survived by son, Dave (Tanny) Huffman of Selby and two daughters- Jacki (Ollie) Marko of Milton, Kentucky, and Sherry (Steve) Martin of Pierre, SD; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren- Erin Salverson; Olivia, Grace, Beckham, and Charlotte Michalke; Clara and Jack Huffman; and Anson Martin.

In addition to Jack, she was preceded by her parents, Sebastian and Christine; six brothers- Michael, Leo, Nick, Sebastian, Frank and Freddie; three sisters-Mary Fulker, Clara Larson, and Susan Hults; and grandson, Michael Salverson.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 4, 2025 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Selby, with Father Michael Griffin, Celebrant. Lectors will be granddaughter Callie Iversen Martin and grandson Nathan Huffman; Organist will be Deb Dumdie and St. Anthony's Choir will sing; Vocal selections will be "Alive in Christ Jesus" "I Know that My Redeemer Lives", "Song of Farewell", and "O Bless the Lord"; and Ushers will be Mike Rausch and Marvin Kindel.

Honorary bearers will be Betty's great grandchildren and her "Bridge Girls".

Casket bearers will be grandchildren-Jeff Salverson of Milton, Kentucky; Beth Salverson of Pinnacle, North Carolina; Callie Iversen Martin, of Ft. Pierre, SD; Mitchell Martin of Pierre; Nathan Huffman and Shaina Huffman of Selby; and Sarah Michalke and Jamey Michalke of Cambridge, MN.

There will be a Wake Service at the Church 7:00 PM Wednesday led by Father Mark Axtmann. Public visitation begins 5:00 PM.

The funeral will be livestreamed at Lien Family Funeral Care on their Facebook page.

Betty's family prefers memorials to: Walworth County Care Center- 4861 Lincoln Ave. Selby, SD 57472; Selby Senior Meals Program, 3419 Main St, Selby, SD 57472; and to St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Box 231, Selby, SD 57472.
