Betty Jackson Obituary

Betty Sue Jackson peacefully transitioned to glory on February 14, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born on September 18, 1940, to Tommy Lee Lewis and Elnora Johnson. She was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a product of the Orleans Parish School System. Before retiring, she cooked meals on wheels for 40 years. Betty was a dedicated member of New Beginnings Missionary B. C. (Pastor Arthur Griffin, Jr.). She is survived by one sister Billy Butler, four children: Pandarian Blackwell (Charles), Earl Blackwell, Jr. (Denise), Demery French (Emile), Auriel Jackson-Glover (Claude, Sr.), 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, Demetrius and 1 godchild Noah Butler, III. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her spouses: Henry W. Jackson and Bishop Earl Blackwell, Sr.; parents Elnora Johnson & Tommy Lee Lewis, siblings: Flora Williams, Bernadette Kelly, Tommy Williams, and granddaughter Cash'e Felder. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to New Beginnings M. B. C., First C.O.G.I.C. United and The Prayer Warriors. All are invited to attend a Celebration of Her Life on Saturday, March 4, 2023. At Pilgrim Rest Baptist, 2200 Louisiana Avenue, New Orleans, LA for 10:00 a.m. Pastored by Glenn T. Jaser. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Bishop Earl Blackwell, Jr. Officiant. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, New Orleans, LA. Repass: Pilgrim Rest Church.
