Betty L. James, 81, of Marysville, a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the Memorial Hospital of Union County, following a brief illness. Born on June 20, 1944, in Columbus, Betty's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
A proud graduate of Columbus West High School and Bliss Business College, Betty began her career as an administrative assistant for the State of Ohio. However, it was when she became a mother that she discovered her true calling as a loving homemaker. Her dedication to her children and family defined her life, and her legacy is enriched by the cherished moments shared with them.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Angela (Todd) King of Marysville; a son, John (Sheri) James of Knoxville, TN. and her granddaughters, Peyton King and Elizabeth James.
A member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Betty's faith played an integral role in her life. She embraced her community with warmth and kindness, fostering friendships that lasted a lifetime.
In her leisure time, Betty found happiness in gardening, fishing, playing tennis, and the time she spent at her home at Indian Lake with family and friends. Her love for the great outdoors often led her on memorable trips to Gatlinburg, TN. and the Smoky Mountains, where the beauty of nature added to her contentment.
Betty is now reunited with her beloved husband of over 54 years, Gary C. James, who preceded her in death on April 26, 2020 and her parents, John and Olema (Byers) Coon.
