October 24, 1936 - November 25, 2025

The funeral service celebrating the life of Betty Johnson of New Hope, MN is at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at House of Hope Lutheran Church, 4800 Boone Ave N, New Hope, MN. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 5125 West Broadway, in Crystal, MN. The service will be livestreamed on House of Hope's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/houseofhopeMN.

Betty Jean Johnson (Becker) entered her heavenly home on November 25, 2025. Betty was born to Martin and Minnie (Schaening) Becker on October 24, 1936, in Wadena, MN. Her mother Minnie passed away in November 1936. Her father, Martin, married Alice Gleason in 1939 and moved the family to Ann Arbor, MI. In 1945 they moved to Minneapolis. Betty graduated from Washburn High School in 1954. She was employed by and retired from Glidden Paint Company.

On March 10, 1984, she married Orville Johnson. They enjoyed 41 years together.

Betty loved being active in church and the community. Family and friends were very dear to her. She enjoyed travel, golf, skiing, lake time, and family time.

Preceding Betty in death was her son, Jeffrey; parents, Martin, and Minnie Becker; stepmother, Alice Becker; sister and brother-in-law, Eleanora and Robert Halliwill; niece, Sharon Burshiem. Betty is survived by husband, Orville Johnson; niece Susan (Scott) McDonald; nephew Steve Burshiem; great nephews Joseph, Alex and Chris McDonald and Lucas Burshiem. Stepchildren Mark (Lauri); Richard (Deb); James, and Robert; and grandson Tyler.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Therese at Oxbow Lake in Brooklyn Park and Grace Hospice for their care.

Memorials preferred to House of Hope Lutheran Church and NEAR Food Shelf, Crystal, MN.
