Betty H. Kane

July 30, 1934 - October 26, 2025

Brooklyn - Betty (Hastey) Kane, 91, of Brooklyn, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025. She was the loving wife of James Kane. Born in Machias, ME, she was the daughter of the late Melvin A. and Anna (Sprague) Hastey.

Betty worked as a banker for many years in the area and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. In her spare time Betty enjoyed exploring her artistic skills through painting and crafts. Betty and her husband, James, traveled the United States extensively over the years, often driving to their destination and camping. Together they traveled to the west coast, Mexico, & the Caribbean. Betty loved all animals and especially loved her long-time companion, Zachary, her Bichon Frisé.

Betty is survived by daughter, Donna Kane Kelly and her husband Michael of Charlestown, RI; son, Steven Kane and his wife Karen of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Jason, Marissa, Meghan, Jeffery; great-grandchildren, William, Benjamin, Annalise, Emerson, Lilly, Charles, Bodie, and Sally.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Betty at 11am on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at St. Mary Church of the visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam, CT 06260. The burial will be private. For memorial guestbook visit www.GilmanAndValade.com.
