In Loving Memory of Betty Lou Garrett Kegley
12/26/1941-10/30/2025
Our hearts are heavy as we share the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Betty Lou Garrett Kegley, age 83, went home with the Lord on October 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was the last living member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Hassel Kegley; her mother, Ethel Maude Garrett; her sister, Carolyn Combs; her two brothers, Alfred Garrett and Eddie Garrett; and her precious great-grandson, Preston Turner Snead. Though we grieve her loss, we rejoice knowing that she is reunited with those she loved so dearly.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and unconditional love through her devoted children: Leonard Kegley and wife Paulette, of Lebanon, VA., Juanita “Nita” Kegley Snead and husband Eddie, of Lebanon, VA and David Kegley and his wife Stephanie, also of Lebanon, VA.
Her grandchildren were the joy of her life-Matthew Snead; Miranda Snead Yates and husband Joe Yates, II; Allison Kegley; J.L. Kegley and his wife Amber; and Allie Hayden and her husband Jeremiah. Each of them carries a part of her warmth, her quiet strength, and her boundless love that shaped our family in countless ways. She is also survived by her special niece and best friend, Tracy Garrett Bailey and two special great nieces, Kynnedi Lynn Austin and Kaydence Mae Austin.
Betty was the heart of her family-a woman whose warmth filled every room, whose laughter brightened every gathering, and whose loved held us together through life’s many seasons. She found beauty in the simple things-helping her family run the family service station and wrecker service, cooking meals for her family, and talking to friends on the telephone-and she taught us to do the same.
Her strength, grace and faith will remain an enduring example to all who knew her. Though she has left this earth, her presence will forever be felt in the love we share, the stories we tell, and the lives she touched.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Caris Healthcare and Adapt Health for the care and kindness they provided. A special thanks to nurse Sally Boyd.
Services for Betty will be held at 11 am on Monday November 3, 2025 in the Combs-Hess Funeral and Cremation Service chapel with Rev. Donnie Musick and Rev Tom Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Guy Kegley, Eddie Kegley, Joe Yates, II, Jeremiah Hayden, Alfie Dishman, Danny Musick, and Delmar Sweeney
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Kari’s Heart Foundation in her memory.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
