Betty Kidd, 84, of Amherst passed away Friday, November 7, 2025. She was born July 29, 1941, in Tulia, Texas to Wilcey Wayne Barclay and Cleo (Gibson) Barclay.

Betty married Coy Kidd September 23, 1961 in Kermit, Texas. The couple settled in Amherst, Texas and raised their family. Betty worked for Amherst ISD as their secretary for over 22 years. She was the first face you saw every morning when you entered the school and the last face you saw when you left. She loved working with the kids and working at the school. She also loved gardening and working in the yard. She was still pulling weeds in her yard this past June. Betty and Coy loved country music and traveled many miles together to see various artists perform. She enjoyed gambling and was an avid Texas Tech Red Raider fan. Her children joked that Tech got a huge win for mom against BYU, and she had the best seat in the house in Heaven. Betty was a proud "Grandmomma" to her grandchildren, and loved them dearly.

Betty is survived by her children, Kami Santos and husband Andrew of Littlefield and Michael Kidd and wife Audrey of Amherst; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Kay Guinn of Emory, Texas and Nancy Byars of Big Springs, Texas; and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Coy Kidd December 16, 2014, and her parents.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday November 12, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Amherst. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery in Amherst. Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Johnson, Tim Gonzales, Richard Miller, Torey Tolbert, Jacob Kidd, and Isaac Kidd.

Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
