Betty Lynn Meadows Green, age 80, passed away peacefully at River Oaks Hospital on December 1, 2025, from complications related to diabetes. Born on June 10, 1945, in D'Lo, Mississippi, Betty was the daughter of James B. and Irena Wells Prince. She grew up in the close-knit D'Lo community, graduated from Mendenhall High School, and continued her education at Hinds Community College and Belhaven University.
Betty married Charles "Charlie" Meadows, Jr. in 1960, and together they raised two sons, Sid and Scott Meadows. Their careers carried them to Natchez, Nashville, and New Orleans before they ultimately settled in Brandon, Mississippi. Following Charlie's passing in 1993, Betty continued to build a life rooted in love, resilience, and deep faith. She retired from Migerobe, Inc., where she served as Controller from 1983 until 2009.
A faithful, loving, and devoted wife and mother, Betty poured her heart into her family. Her love extended well beyond her immediate circle, her bond with her parents, sister, and brother was unmistakable, and it shaped the way she embraced everyone she met. When Betty walked into a room, you knew she was genuinely glad to see you. She loved without hesitation and without condition.
In 2001, Betty's life was blessed again when she met and married Murry Green. Together they built a fun, spirited, and joy-filled life in Brandon. They cherished their time at Pinelake Church, their small group, and countless evenings sharing margaritas with friends at Martins. Over the last years of her life, while she lived at the Nichols Center in Madison, Murry cared for her with unwavering devotion. More often than not, he was the first person she saw each morning, a steady and tender presence who loved Betty, her children, and her grandchildren with rare, selfless commitment.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Burma Dean Prince Stringer (Billy); her brother, James "Cookie" Prince (Mary Carroll); her first husband, Charlie Meadows; and a niece, Frances Wilkerson.
She is survived by her husband, Murry Green; her sons, Sid Meadows (Theresa) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Scott Meadows (Andrea) of Brandon, Mississippi, Step Children Stan Green and Rhonda (David) Saul; six grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Brooklyn, Conner, Cole, Lucy, and Jackson Meadows; and three step granddaughters, Ashley (Leland) Hinton and Jessi (Steven) Hope and Ryley Green; great-grandchild, Wells Meadows; four step great grandchildren, Jerry Hinton, Julie Hinton, Avery Hope and Bryce Boyles; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Betty embodied the spirit of 1 Corinthians 13, especially verse 13. To know Betty was to love her, but even more, to feel deeply loved by her. Her joy was unmistakable, reflected in her warm, radiant smile and the bright colors she loved to wear.
In her honor, the family invites those attending her memorial service to wear their brightest colors and their biggest smiles.
Services will be held at Pinelake Church on December 4, 2025, with visitation at 9:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Fight the Good Fight, P.O. Box 28, Brandon, MS 39232; 601-744-6113;
