Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial GardensBetty Malee Means, age 97, of Lenexa, KS, passed away on March 26, 2026. Services will be held at Lenexa Baptist Church, 15320 W. 87th St. Pkwy, Lenexa, KS 66219, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 with the service to follow at 11:00.
Betty was born in Jetmore, Kansas, on January 15, 1929. Betty retired after working over 10 years in the banking industry and over 9 years at Johnson County Mental Health Center. Betty was a member of Lenexa Baptist Church and enjoyed serving there. Her hobbies included caring for her family, entertaining, playing bridge and hand-and-foot, Bible studies, antiquing, gardening, reading, and playing her organ. In years past, she loved to square dance and round dance.
Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Gertrude Mock, her sisters Lillian Mock, Lois Popejoy, and Georgia Miller, her husbands CPL Doyle Warden, Harold Patchen, Jr., and Donald Means, and her daughter-in-law D’Anne Means.
Survivors include children Kyle (Karen) Patchen, Debbie (Don) Abell, Hal (Kathy) Patchen, stepsons David Means and John (Terri) Means. Grandchildren include Sara (Jacob) Schwegman, Amy (Clay) Aultman, Luke Patchen, Shannon (Carlos) Carrillo, Jason (Faye) Cradit, Megan (Patrick) Elam, Jacob (Yosmary) Patchen, Chase (Claire) Means, Tori (Steve) Tramonte, Seth (Whitney) Means, Allison (Sydney) Oliver, Peyton (Joshua) Loffelmacher, Joshua (Erin) Means, and ValAnn (Craig) Pell. Great-grandchildren include Rosalie, Ella, Liam, and Hope Schwegman; Andrew and Anthony Carrillo; Aiden and Casey Cradit; Amelia, Theodore, and Paul Patchen; Adeline, Pierce, and Finley Tramonte; Olivia and Sierra Means; Caleb, Callie, Carly, Iestyn, and Giovanni Means; and Charles, Hardy, and Bailey Pell.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lenexa Baptist Church.
