Betty was born February 13th, 1962, in Beaufort, SC and passed away December 27th, 2023, at the age of 61 in Lawrenceville, GA.
She was the fourth of five children for her parents David and Patrica Newton. Beaufort is where her family lived during her childhood and teenage years, and where she developed her love for the ocean and fishing.
After the birth of her first child, the family then moved to Fayetteville, NC and shortly after they settled in Stedman, NC, where she welcomed two more children. Despite becoming an early mother and leaving school, she continued to work hard and achieve her goals. She obtained her high school diploma and an associate in medical office management.
Due to medical issues, she went into retirement early on in life. Her newfound free time allowed her to dedicate it to her faith, doing charitable work within the community, and spending countless hours with her children and eleven grandchildren. She always claimed, “becoming a Nana” was one of her greatest blessings of her life.
She continued to live in Stedman until her mother’s passing in 2017, where she then moved with her sister, daughter, and three of her grandchildren to Lawrenceville, GA. Betty’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. No matter the occasion or time she wanted to be there for it all and was there for as much of it as she could be. Her vacation years included family gatherings, her grandkid’s activities, pool days, lunch outings with her fur babies to get cheeseburgers.
Betty was welcomed by her parents Patricia and David, her younger brother Clifford Newton.
Betty is survived by her son Jerry, and wife Brooke Peterson, Forest, VA; son John and wife Jessica Rodrigues, Fayetteville, NC; daughter Victoria Riddle, Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Justin, Camdan, Samuel, Raelynn, Layla, Kyleigh, Lexie, Aria, Isaac, Ariel, and Colton; Brother Dennis and wife Vicky, Clinton; NC; brother David Newton; sister Judy Newton, Lawrenceville, GA, her three fur babies, Sapphire, Oakley, and Dakota; a host of many other nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held in her honor, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service, 610 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
