Betty Jean Nolen, born on July 14, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, passed away at home on August 2, 2024. In loving memory of Betty, a visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on August 9, 2024, followed by an 11am Funeral Service at the Quinlan Church of Christ located at 8481 TX-34, Quinlan, TX 75474. The services will be a celebration of Betty's life and the impact she had on those around her.
Betty was the beloved daughter of Jewell Estes and Edna Pearl (Hendrix) Newsom, and sister to Dutch Newsom. She is reunited in heaven with her loving husband Joe Charles Nolen and son Charles Nolen. Betty leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness in the hearts of her surviving family members including her children Kenneth McIntosh and wife Jennie, Shirley Smith and husband Larry, John McIntosh, Angela "Cricket" Nolen; She cherished her 9 grandchildren Kenneth McIntosh Jr, Christi Chloupek, Matthew McIntosh, Amber Bowlby-McIntosh, Kevin Nolen, Jonathan Smith, Cori Godwin, Kaylyn Stark and Tyler McIntosh; as well as several great-grandchildren including John Gregston Jr, David Bowlby Jr, Jessica and MacKenna Godwin, Aliciana and Annacelia McIntosh, Truleigh and Grayson Nolen, Ashton Chloupek, Braxton Stark; as well as many other family members and treasured friends
As long-time residents of Quinlan, Betty and her husband Joe were active members in the church community. The two of them spent many of their days on the waters of Lake Tawakoni, fishing with friends and family, enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. Many nights were spent playing Skip-Bo, which was a favorite card game. Betty was well known for her unwavering faith, acts of kindness and helpful service to all. She had an enormous heart and a strong compassion for animals. Betty, also known to those closest to her as Mom, Gaga or Gigi, always made sure to say "I love you" or "Tell everyone I love them". She was truly a remarkable person, a beautiful soul on earth whose light shined so brightly. She was an absolute blessing to all those who loved her.
