AIKEN, SC - Betty Randall Owen, 71, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 10, 2020 in the comfort of her home. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Annie Randall. She was happily married to Gerald Owen, Jr. for 47 years. They shared a wonderful life together centered around faith, family and friends.
She was proud of her Vaucluse roots and a graduate of Graniteville High School. Upon graduation, she began a career in banking with Farmers & Merchants Bank. She paused her career for fifteen years to raise her two sons, Gerry and Randy. She resumed her career with Palmetto Federal Savings Bank and retired from Regions Bank in 2004. Upon her retirement, she became a full-time grandmother, affectionately known as Maw Maw.
She faithfully attended Lakeside Baptist Church. Over the years, she sang in the choir and helped begin the AWANA Club, but her true passion was working in the nursery for over 40 years. Mrs. Betty was one of the first people to warmly greet new parents and visitors when they dropped their babies off in the nursery.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald; sons Gerry (Daphne) Owen and Randy (Adrina) Owen; grandchildren Logan and Peyton Owen, Ashley Price, Mercedes Robertson; and great-grandchildren Trevor Price, Carter Price, Hayden McCollum and Jordyn Mickel. She was an adopted grandmother to Jenna West and Benedict Sintoyia.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister, Patsy Richardson, and brother, Edward Randall.
Visitation will be hosted at Lakeside Baptist Church on Saturday, December 12, 2020 from 1:00-2:00 PM. The funeral will follow at the church at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tad Marshall, Reverend John George and Tim Harley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Steve Berendsen, Jody Glover, David Harley, Larry Harley, Heyl Lowe and Ken Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be Anette Lowe, Melissa Mayson, Trudy McElhaney, Linda Mullis, Terri Smith, Judy Wilson, Eloise Young, Skipper and Carmen Brotherton, Ted and Susie Gantt, Mike and Beverly Ross and Jacob and Ethel Walker.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care she received from Mike and Lori Dyson and Encompass Hospice.
