Betty Lou Palmer, 93, of Hurst, died Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Herrin Hospital surrounded by her family.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Blairsville Cemetery with Pastor Greg Parker officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Hurst Fire and Ambulance Department.
Betty was born on January 1, 1932, in Cambria to James Dennis and Edith (Beavers) Howell. She married Emmett D. "Jack" Palmer on August 2, 1952. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1987.
She is survived by three daughters, Sherry Orr, Shirley (Lloyd) Wild, and Angela (Ken) Tabels; grandchildren, Theresa Miller, Jason (Alison) Wild, Christy Wild, Katherine Smith, Erik Shemonia, Christopher Shemonia, Zachary Palmer, Henry Palmer, and Sam Garcia; seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded by her parents; husband; sons, Mitchell and Marcus Palmer; six brothers, Homer, Jim, Carl, Howard, Herschel and Fred Howell; six sisters, Wilma Tindall, Shella Christian, Nellie Layman, Ella Craddock, Dorothy Hodges and Martha Keller.
Betty enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, word searches, sewing, taking care of her yard, and reading her Bible. The most important part of her life was being a mom and grandma.
