Betty Pittman Parker, 91, of Midnight, Mississippi, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, MS. A woman of grace, faith, and quiet strength, Betty lived a life centered on family, service, her love for God, and the beauty of His creation.
Betty was born on March 12, 1934, in Water Valley, MS, to David Harvey Pittman and Ruby Cooper Pittman. She graduated from Silver City High School, Sunflower County Junior College, and later earned a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State College for Women (MUW) in Columbus, MS. Betty worked as a teacher for several years, teaching art and history at Belzoni High School, where she was loved and respected by all of her students.
In 1955, Betty married Everett Leon Parker, who had been the love of her life since the second grade. Their marriage was a lifelong partnership filled with devotion, laughter, and countless treasured moments. Betty and Leon were blessed with two sons: Steven (Steve) Pittman Parker (Dixie) of Oxford and Everett Leon (Lee) Parker, Jr. of Belzoni. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a dedicated, faithful member of her church family at the Belzoni Church of Christ and later the Indianola Church of Christ.

Betty also took great pride in her yard and flowers, which she loved sharing with her many friends. She had a deep appreciation for art, music, and the beauty of nature-especially the splendor of the evening sky. In her final two years at The Magnolia in Oxford, Betty continued to brighten the lives of those around her by sharing her love of art in the community painting activities.
Betty was a passionate advocate for Delta agriculture. She spent many years promoting USA-grown cotton products and clothing locally and throughout the Southeast. As a member of Humphreys County Cotton Wives, she was among a group of distinguished ladies who modeled cotton apparel statewide and at National Beltwide Cotton Conferences. In recognition of her many contributions, Betty was selected by Delta Council as a Good Middling Lady of the Year.
Betty embodied beauty, elegance, kindness, confidence, a joyful spirit, and will be remembered as a true Southern lady. She was uplifting, helpful, and caring towards her fellow residents at the Magnolia. She showed strength through adversity and left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
