Betty Agnes Redmon
May 5, 1934 – October 16, 2025
Betty Agnes Redmon, affectionately known as "Grandma Betty" by the children of Raisinville School, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, in Monroe, Michigan, at the age of 91. Born on May 5, 1934, in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, Betty lived a life full of love, service, and community spirit.
Betty dedicated 23 years to Monroe Public Schools as a Foster Grandma, nurturing and guiding generations of students towards math proficiency. Her passion for education was matched only by her love for cooking, where she delighted family and friends with her beloved southern dishes, including soup beans and cornbread, and biscuits and gravy. Betty found spiritual nourishment through her active membership at Union Street Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended for over fifteen years and joyfully assisted with vacation bible school. She also proudly donated her family's cherished piano to the church, symbolizing her love for music and community.
In her quiet moments, Betty found joy in collecting angels and tending to her yard and flowerbeds, creating a haven of beauty around her home. Her legacy is one of kindness, faith, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Frank J. and Wilma I. (Lemons) Kerns, her husband James B. Redmon, and four sisters and one brother. She is survived by her loving sons, Dennis (Diane) Redmon of LaSalle and Jack "Dwight" (Terry) Redmon of Monroe; her devoted daughters, Denise Redmon of Newport, Debbie (Larry) Cooper of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Donna Cunningham of Monroe. She will also be missed by her two brothers, Larry (Lucile) Kerns of Rossville, Georgia, and Joseph Kerns of Chattanooga, Tennessee, along with her eleven grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Betty's life at a visitation on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161, from 10:00 a.m. until the services celebrating her life begin at 1:30 p.m. Rev. John Fultz will officiate the ceremony. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Memorial contributions in Betty's memory are suggested to Union Street Missionary Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society, or an organization of the donor's choice.
The family would like to express a special, heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at the IHM Senior Living Community and Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Betty.
Betty Agnes Redmon, "Grandma Betty," will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and community.

"Grandma Betty" was a faithful foster grandma to many students at Raisinville School and a dear, dear friend to staff there as well. God bless your family as they grieve your loss, but we'll see you again in heaven some day for those who serve Him!
