Betty Roark Obituary

Betty was born on April 6, 1933 to Edgar and Evelyn Carruthers in Tannersville, NY.

After graduating from Bulkley High School in 1951, she went on to join the Navy as a WAVE from 1952-1954. While in the Navy, she met Norman Roark and they wed in 1954. After an Honorable Discharge, in 1954, Betty spent her time in various positions including a bus driver, U.S. Postal worker, and of most importance, caregiver while residing in East Hampton CT. In preparation for retirement, Betty and Norm spent many weekends traveling to Vermont to build their dream home. During their early years in Vermont, Betty and Norm became founding members of the Woodford SnoBusters Snowmobile Club in 1984. They were also avid members of the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers (VAST). Betty spent many years as the Membership Chairperson and Norms grooming co-pilot for the SnoBusters. When not Volunteering her time during snowmobiling events, she enjoyed watching her bears, birds, and all other wildlife on the mountain. Betty also enjoyed gardening, rooting for the Uconn Huskies Basketball teams, traveling with friends, and spoiling her grandchildren. Betty is predeceased by her parents, husband, and son. She is survived by her daughters and spouses, Michele Steiner (Richard), their two children Tyler and Todd, Mary Beth Daniels (Scott), their daughter Brenda (Dow) Achorn (Kevin), daughter-in-law Maureen Roark, and her three children, Michael, Jr., Megan Kemp (Justin), Matthew. Betty is is also survived by her great-grandchildren Madyson Achorn, Mikayla Achorn, Hannah Kemp, Lukas Kemp. Betty was greatly loved and left a beautiful legacy in her family and friends. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for October 14, 2023, at noon at the Woodford SnoBusters building in Woodford , VT In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter or the Woodford SnoBusters

The staff at Meals on Wheels loved Betty who attended our Bennington cafe with all her friends. They had a special, regular table. We will miss Betty´s kindness and smiles. Offering our sincere condolences to all of Betty´s family.
