Betty Schoenfelder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bittner Funeral Chapel - Mitchell on Jun. 28, 2025.
Betty Schoenfelder, 92, of White Lake, SD, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, surrounded by family. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 1, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in White Lake with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Betty Louise Schoenfelder was born on January 27, 1933, in Kimball, South Dakota, to Virgil and Eunice Parriott. She grew up in a loving home with her two brothers, Bob (deceased) and Bill. After graduating from Kimball High School in 1950, she worked briefly for the state in Pierre, South Dakota, where she shared many stories of her experiences.
On October 16, 1954, she married Fred Schoenfelder in Plankinton, and together they built a life of love and dedication on their farm south of White Lake. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, raising six children and supporting the family farm with strength and grace, often going on parts runs, feeding livestock, and pulling out the occasional stuck vehicle.
She was a faithful member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, active in parish life through the Altar Society, and deeply engaged in her community. Betty was a dedicated member of the Legion Auxiliary, Porketts, and Red Hat Society, a passionate 4-H leader, and an enthusiastic participant in the Bridge Club. She was also a spirited supporter of local basketball and football teams, often cheering at games and embracing the community spirit. Betty especially enjoyed supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their activities with pride and joy.
Betty is survived by her six children: Debra (Tom) Koch of Mt. Vernon, Rhonda (Gary) Miller of Harrisburg, JoLynn (Delwyn) DeHaai, Brad (Teresa) Schoenfelder, Dawn (Deon) DeLange, and Tami (Neal) Bennett, all of Sioux Falls. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, as well as her brother Bill Parriott, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; parents, Virgil and Eunice; granddaughter, Danielle; and brother, Bob.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to St. Peter's Catholic Church or the White Lake Athletic Boosters.
