Betty Seaman Obituary
Betty Margaret Wood Seaman, age 84 of Purgitsville, WV, passed away Friday morning, August 19, 2022, at her residence. Born on November 16, 1937, at Richmond, VA, she was a daughter of the late Moody Claude Wood and Althea Zela Brown Wood. She was the loving and dedicated wife of Bob Seaman for 57 years, whom preceded her in death in December 2020.
Betty was passionate about education. For nearly forty years she taught elementary school children how to read and treasure learning. A supportive parent, she tirelessly lent help and encouragement to her two sons, equipping them with many of the tools they needed to succeed. Steve and Ted each inherited her love of culture and adventure.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen Seaman of Oklahoma City, OK and Ted Seaman of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, Stephen Seaman, Caitlin Seaman and Ryan Seaman and a sister, Mary Wood of Beckley, WV.
Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, August 26, 2022, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastor Mark Flynn officiant. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services on Friday. Inurnment will be at a later date in Columbarium #2 at Olivet Cemetery. Due to the current COVID-19 recommendations, wearing of masks and social distancing by individuals unvaccinated is recommended.
