Betty Ilene (Miller) Shirk, 98, of Lafayette, passed away at her home on October 22, 2025. Born May 2, 1927, Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family.

Betty married Wesley Shirk, 68 years ago. They met while she served as a proof reader for Haywood Printing, and he worked as a printing apprentice at Craw's Typesetting. After marrying, she devoted herself completely to her family, becoming a dedicated homemaker who always put everyone else before herself. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and caring for her flowers. She made every holiday memorable with decor and special treats for her family.

Betty poured her heart into raising her three sons - Randall Shirk, Richard Shirk, and Ronald Shirk, all of Lafayette - and later into loving and spoiling her only grandchild, Jordan (K.C.) Working of Lafayette, and her great-grandchildren, Xander and Piper.

Known for her beautiful blue eyes and radiant smile, Betty lit up every room she entered. To her family, she was "Superwoman". She was the one they all turned to for advice, reassurance, and unconditional love.

Her family will forever cherish the many days spent at Grandma's house, where laughter, warmth, and love were always in abundance. A weekly visit to the beauty salon to see her dear friend Sharon was always a highlight of her week - a small but special joy in her full and giving life.

Betty's legacy of love, strength, and selflessness will continue to live on in the hearts of those she so deeply cared for.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Wilbur Miller Sr., and her brother, Wilbur Miller Jr.
