Betty Sue Shows, age 85, of
Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, August 21, 2025. She was born on January 31, 1940, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to the late Joseph Adolph "Jake" Desadier and Rosie Pardee Desadier.
Mrs. Shows was a longtime and faithful member of Central Assembly of God in Winnfield. She was also a proud member of the Natchitoches Tribe of Louisiana and cherished her Native American heritage. For more than 20 years, she worked at Westside Elementary School, where she retired with many fond memories and friendships.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Betty was known for her love of cooking and will be remembered for the countless delicious dishes she joyfully shared with her family and friends. She treasured time with her loved ones, especially her phone conversations with her dear friend Joy Bell, until Joy's passing, and with her beloved niece Sherry.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Henry Shows. Their life together reflected the words of Ruth 1:16–17: "Whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me." This enduring devotion was the heart of her life and legacy.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Glen Desadier, Buddy Desadier, and Cecil Desadier; and six sisters, Florence Allen, Mary Doyal, Lucille Shaw, Sadie Desadier, Virginia Desadier, and Adeline Rhymes.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Debbie Shows and Larry Shows (Ida); grandchildren, Brittany Shows (Dee), Jamie Simpson (Mitch), Christina Bolda (Rick), Jennifer Phillips, and Hannah Meredith (James); and great-grandchildren, Noah Shows, Jamen Dodson, Jaden Wyatt, Myah Dodson, Ricky Bolda, Christopher Bolda, Kaden Victor, Katelyn Victor, Kailey Victor, Alexis Smith, Maddie Smith, and Kiera Smith. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, along with her cherished church family at Central Assembly of God, whom she loved deeply.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield with Reverends Michael Whitman, Jack Miller, and Author Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at New Jerusalem Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Noah Shows, Kaden Victor, Justen Carpenter, Reggie Longino, Larry Phillips, Marcus Desadier, and Jamen Dodson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaden Wyatt, Mike Shows, Jeff Shows, and Lawrence Desadier.
Mrs. Betty will be remembered for her warm heart, her strong faith, and the love she poured into her family and community.
