Betty Sue Smith Toccoa, Georgia
Mrs. Betty Sue Rice Smith, age 84 of Rice Mountain Drive, Toccoa passed away Friday, November 28, 2025, surrounded by her family.
A daughter of the late Earnest Newton "Newt" Rice and Alma Simpson Rice, she was born February 20, 1941in Habersham County, having lived all her life in Stephens County. She was employed with Coats and Clark as the Human Resource Manager, retiring with 22 years of service. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She loved to bake and cook for her family and friends and was a great caregiver for her older family members. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of the home, John W. Smith; her children, Savonda Turner of Toccoa, Sandra Turner of Jefferson, Georgia, Angie (Tony) Anderson of Toccoa and David Turner of Toccoa; six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Jannett Thomason of Toccoa and Allene and Terrell Mitchell of Toccoa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Carol Rice of Leesburg, Florida and Ray and Connie Rice of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday, November 30, 2025 from noon until 2 pm.
Private family funeral service will be held following the visitation in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Brett Sanders officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Levi Rice, Seth White, Luc Allgood, Elliot Dye, Carter Rickman and Chris Rickman.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1100 S. Big A Road, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 in memory of Betty Sue Rice Smith.
Interment to follow in the Carnes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Betty Sue Rice Smith.
