Betty Jane Spangler

Betty Jane Spangler, 97, of Mesa, AZ and formerly of Concord and McAllen, TX, passed away December 25, 2025 in Mesa, AZ. She was born January 4, 1928 in Painesville, OH to the late Lloyd and Minnie (Prentice) Chapman.
Betty retired from Diamond Shamrock working in the Laboratory Research Department. After retirement she shared over 30 years with her husband Edward in McAllen, TX enjoying their retirement years together. They returned every year during the summer months, so se could enjoy her grandchildren. She was a member of Concord Alliance Church. She loved her Lord Jesus, her husband, her kids and her family with a passion. She also enjoyed camping and making different crafts, knitting, and crocheting things for all her grandchildren through the years. Her famous crochet scrubbies were a family favorite.
Mrs. Spangler is survived by her children Linda Gerle of Mesa, AZ; Sandy (Sharon) Spangler of Little Rock, AR; Thomas (Karen) Spangler of Painesville Twp., OH; Sheila (Timothy) Marhefka of Geneva, OH; Scott (Teri) Spangler of Leroy, OH and 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward G. Spangler on December 14, 2016, sisters Dorothy Stacy, Marion Lohiser, Mick Ludwig; and brother Ernest Chapman.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Painesville.
