Betty Gene SPRINGER, 77, of Port Allegany, PA, died Monday, October 27, 2025 in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.
Born August 9, 1948, in Port Allegany, she was the daughter of Eugene V. and Elizabeth Z. Hoffman Sherwood. A 1966 graduate of Port Allegany High School, she was employed as a nurse’s aide at several area nursing homes. She was married to Paul A. Springer, who predeceased her on July 20, 1995. Betty enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved her cat, Miss Kitty.
Surviving are: a sister, Vivian L. Lamont of Port Allegany; a brother, Steven W. (Marlena) Sherwood of Port Allegany; two grandchildren, Lorissa Roys and Caden Roys, both of Port Allegany; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Lori Ann Roys; a brother, Robert E. Sherwood; an infant sister, Darla Sherwood; and longtime companion, John H. Smith.
The family will remember Betty privately. Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery, Coudersport.
Memorials may be made to Star Hose Co. #1 or Port Area Ambulance Service.
