Betty Ann Broadwater Stewart, 90, passed away October 31, 2025, at her home in Pearl, Mississippi. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in
McComb, MS, will oversee the arrangements.

Betty was born August 16, 1935, in Opelika, Alabama, to the late Otis B. Broadwater and Willa Pauline Hillyer Broadwater. She was the youngest of three children. She married January 2, 1952, at the age of sixteen to the late William Albert Stewart, and they remained married for 68 years until his passing August 15, 2020. Throughout her life, Betty remained a faithful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She remained a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.
Betty was retired, having held various jobs throughout her life, but she took no jobs more importantly than those of wife, mother, and homemaker. Betty, along with Bill, never missed an event that their kids or grandkids were involved with, always trying to make a difference and demonstrate their loving support. Not only was Betty devoted to her family at home, but she also missed her family in Opelika and took her daughters with her every summer to visit there.
When her children moved away, Betty and Bill enjoyed traveling many times back and forth to visit with their two daughters and their families in Houston, Texas. Betty loved watching college football (War Eagle!), socializing with neighborhood friends, knitting and needlepoint, caring for her pets, playing cards and board games, and spent years creating beautiful items from wood and ceramics. By far what made her happiest, however, were her four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who she loved and cared for deeply and would always want to help and be with. Her presence in all our lives and those of family and friends will be deeply missed.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; by her husband; by her brother, Jacky Duane Broadwater of Dayton, Ohio; by her sister, Dorothy Cordelia Masters, and her brother-in-law, Charles Samuel Masters, both of Opelika, Alabama; her son-in-law, Stephen Kelly Hamilton of Houston, Texas; and multiple other friends and family members, including fifteen brother- and sister-in-laws.
She is survived by two daughters: D. Lynn Stewart Hamilton of Pearl, Mississippi, and Sherrie L. Stewart Folger of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren: Elena A. Hamilton of Pinehurst, Texas, Skylar R. Hamilton of Houston, Texas, Bryan K. Hamilton (Rik Juarez) of Houston, Texas, and Haleigh G. Folger of Houston, Texas; two great-grandchildren: Zoe S. Reichenbach of Magnolia, Texas, and Kelley R. Campbell of Pinehurst, Texas; her nephew, Charles S. Masters, Jr., of Illinois; her niece, June Masters Royal, of Alabama; her beloved dog, Snickers and many other family members and friends.
The family expresses special appreciation to the staff at Accent Care Hospice for their commitment to our mother's care, comfort, and dignity. Special appreciation to mom's whole care team, especially Ms. Lakeisha, Ms. Jennifer, Nurse Shelby and others whose names we do not remember. We are eternally grateful for your guidance, honesty, and support.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Hamilton, Skylar Hamilton, Doug Green, and Jason King.
