Betty Sue "Maw Maw" Strope

Graveside service for Betty Sue Strope, age 82, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Shiloh Cemetery with Bro. Eddie Graves officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service.

Betty was born on May 29, 1943, in Lincoln County, TN, to the late George Washington Richardson and Addie B. Storey Bevels Richardson. In her early years, she helped operate Strope's Shop Easy in Flintville and was later employed with Lee Manufacturing and Amana.

A devoted caregiver at heart, Betty found her greatest joy in caring for children. She operated a daycare for many years and lovingly helped raise generations of children in her community. She had a special place in her heart for all children, but her deepest joy came from being "Maw Maw" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time outdoors, tending to her flowers, and watching her hummingbirds.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Stanly; son, Tony (Janie) Strope; grandchildren, Luke (Sara) Stanly, Sarah (Andrew) Barton, Bailey Strope, Brian Strope, Caitlyn Strope, Alex Strope, and Brittany Strope; and great-grandchildren, Banks Barton, and Oliver and Eleanor Stanly.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Allen Strope; and siblings, Charlie Bevels, Gladys Bevels Thornton, and Frances Nichols.
