Benson, NC: Mrs. Betty West Tart, age 83, of Morgan Road passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Benson. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Glenn McCullen and Randy Beasley. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.

Mrs. Tart was born on November 22, 1939 in Johnston County, NC to the late Wiley Festus and Lessie Mae Lee West. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne L. Tart; son and daughter-in-law, Tony Wayne Tart and Melody; infant daughter, Wanda Lou Tart; sisters and brothers, Melba Pleasant, Mildred West, Warren West, Charles West, Sherrill West, and Maxie West. Mrs. Tart worked along beside her husband, Wayne and children at their store, Tart’s Gas and Grocery. She was a member of the Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Tart enjoyed working in her flowers and bird watching.

Survivors include her children, Denise Tart Massengill, and husband, Danny of Four Oaks, Tracy Lynn Tart of Benson, Tonya Tart-Ellis and husband, Anthony of Benson; grandchildren, Shane Guin, Lori Beth McCray and husband, Erik, Eric Lynn Tart, and Alexander Powell; great-grandchildren, Tyler Johnson and Parker McCray; sister, Katie Parker of Winston-Salem; brother, Junior C. West of Rocky Point; sisters-in-law, Shelby Raynor and husband, J. F. of Virginia, Rebecca Tart of Benson, Jackie Tart of Sanford; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Troy Bolton of Lillington; special pet, Roxy Lou.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.

The Tart Family would like to thank the staff of Liberty Commons Nursing Home and Rehabilitation for their loving care of Mrs. Betty and to April Johnson for making sure her hair was in place every Thursday. 

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers.
