Betty Louese White, 74, passed away Monday morning, November, 10, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of Otho and Bertie Louese (Phillips) Sutton, the third of three children - Otho had been waiting 9 years for a daughter, their relationship was special.
The Sutton family moved to Elkhart in June 1959 and all three Sutton siblings graduated from Elkhart High School: Ronnie, class of 1960, Wayne, class of 1963 and Betty, class of 1969. Otho, Louese, Ron and Wayne all preceded her in death.
Betty accepted Christ as her savior July 25, 1963, which happened to be the birthday of her best friend, Jacque (Morgan) Higgins.
Always busy, even through high school, she usually left by 7:00 a.m. for voice lessons, choir, sextet, triple trio, twirling practice, and or flute & woodwind ensemble arriving home usually around 7:00 p.m.
Betty was also instrumental in reorganizing the Little League Baseball Program, always working with the youth.
A longtime member of the First Baptist Church, she taught in Vacation Bible school many years, attained a certificate in Child Evangelism program, and was a teacher/leader in the AWANA program sponsored by the church in both the children's and teen groups. She served in the office of Church Secretary for many years, also recording church history. She received blessings singing in the church choir and accepted the responsibility of church decorations for the Glory of God. She also decorated and helped prepare for many weddings. She was a member of the Elkhart High School Alumni Committee and Prairie Point Quilt Guild.
Betty was gifted with music and she was blessed to be able to sing "specials" in services and furthered HONORED to sing The Lord's Prayer acapella at Alumni Banquets in memoriam to remembrances of deceased alumnus.
Betty Sutton and Bobby Bellomy were married August 2, 1969 at the Elkhart First Baptist Church. To this union a son, Michael D. Bellomy was born September 9, 1973. The family had many camping trips to Northern New Mexico and their home became a gathering place for youth, always welcomed in love.
Bobby died October 2, 1988, at home per his wishes following a lengthy rare terminal illness. The Lord, with a little help from Michael, brought Betty and Kevin White together, they soon married on December 9, 1989. A plethora of memories and adventures were made by this newly formed family. Kevin, a 39 year old bachelor quickly adapted to the roles of husband, father and grandfather! Hunting, fishing, traveling and mountain cabin, motorcycle trips and enriching friendships were among the favorites of the family. One highlight was forming a gospel quartet and traveling to sing for the Lord.
Betty, the ever-busy honored wife of her devoted husband Kevin, and Kevin were called onto the "Mission Field" on May 4, 2023, upon an unexpected cancer diagnosis. God enabled them to share the love and the Gospel of Christ to a great number of people whether it be in doctor's offices, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, where speech therapy included singing gospel songs, or in everyday life. On June 19, 2023, Betty suffered a stroke following a mega-dose of chemotherapy, which paralyzed her left side. She worked diligently and was walking again in six months. Betty proclaimed to the doctors upon the cancer diagnosis "My grandson will graduate from high school with honors in May of 2024 and I want to be there! By the grace of God, she was not only there but walked in of her own accord!
