Betty Butler Wilkerson, aged 87, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Betty was born in Rebecca, Georgia, and spent her formative years in Adel, Georgia, where she attended school.
Betty dedicated 42 years to Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. After retirement, she contributed her talents to the Mercer Engineering Research Center, where she served as the Principal Program Administrator for over 25 years. Betty cherished her work and the friendships she formed along the way.
A member of Mikado Baptist Church, Betty loved her church and found immense joy in her faith community. She was an active participant in a weekly ladies' sewing group and regularly enjoyed dinner with close friends. Betty was blessed and deeply grateful for the strong friendships she cultivated over the years.
Betty leaves behind immediate and extended family who will deeply miss her presence. Her kindness, warmth, and faith will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Wilkerson.
Her memory will be treasured by her children, Vickie Story (Carl) of Byron, Michele “Mickie” Cranford (Larry) of Brunswick, and Amy Williams of Ringgold, GA; grandchildren, Heath Story (Brittany) of Macon, and Holly Harris (Dexter) of Atlanta, GA, Jameson Williams of Mesa, Arizona; Gracie Williams of Cleveland, TN, Sam Williams of Ringgold, Carmen Horton (Mitch), Michael Cranford (Heather) of Atlanta; as well as great-grandchildren, Max Story, Marley Story, Gavin Soloman, Kennedy Soloman, Durham Harris, Sayward Harris, Andi Benson (Briggs), Brett Horton, and Will Cranford.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens where Betty will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, donations are respectfully requested in her honor to the Plain Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 896, San Juan, TX 78598 for missions in Mexico or to the Atrium Health Navicent Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31088.
