Betty Jean Yerkie

Betty Jane Yerkie, age 104, of Seville, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic – Medina Hospital.

Betty was born February 20, 2021, in Detroit, Michigan to Ray John and Cassie {Gagnier} Wolfslayer.

She married Lloyd John Yerkie on March 9, 1946. He passed away on July 13, 2023.

Betty was a homemaker raising her 3 children. She taught many children how to swim at the Detroit Sportsman’s Congress Campground. She loved hiking, travelling, spending time outdoors, going to the beaches at Ft. Myers and Carabelle, Florida and wintering in Mesa, Arizona where she enjoyed off-roading with her Jeep in the back country around the Superstition Mountains. She and Lloyd had many adventures together over their 78 years of marriage.

Betty will be deeply missed by her children Ken Yerkie of Seville, Ohio, Gerald “Jerry” (Janet) Yerkie of Sullivan, Ohio, and Cheryl Yerkie of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren Mark Iwanski, Rick Iwanski, Zachary Yerkie; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Donald Wolfslayer.
