Reflections of Bettye’s Life
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith - Timothy 4:7
Bettye Jean Guy Huff was born to the late Leslie Guy Jr and the late Alberta Nevels of Taylor, Texas, on February 25, 1944.
Bettye attended O.L. Price Public School in Taylor, Texas, and received her diploma.
Bettye professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at the First Baptist Church in Taylor. As an adult, Bettye's walk with the Lord continued to grow stronger, and throughout her life's journey, she maintained active church membership wherever she resided. Bettye's commitment to the work of the church was evident in her faithful participation and service in various capacities at First Baptist, True Faith, Mt. Sinai, Weeping Willow, and St. Peter's, where she remained faithful until the Lord called her home.
Bettye worked in retail sales for many years, from the Food Industry, Avon, Fashion Wear, Eye Master, and lastly, she was the owner of a Facebook live Paparazzi Jewelry store, which was always a joy to watch her passion for retail. Bettye's contagious spirit and confident personality propelled her often to being the top seller. Her customers didn't just leave with just a purchase they left with a smile. When Bettye's health began to fail and she could no longer meet the demands of retail, she did not let that stop her from using her gift. She simply shifted her focus to the cell phone. She spent countless hours calling family and friends no matter the time of day or night; Bettye would talk about God, and just check in with you. Even from her sick bed she offered hope and encouragement and never complained. Instead she continued to speak of God's goodness. Bettye's faith remained strong and unshaken until th end. Although she will be missed, she will always be remembered for that radiant smile, unwavering faith and stern yet loving hand that she extended to all.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and Rev. T.L. Garner, Sr whom she affectionately called her Dad; Sister - Ann Marie Scott; Brother - Quiontus Scott.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, James Bernard (Robin) Flowers of Mexico, MO; Cedric Laron (Jamyi) Huff of Victoria, Texas; Leonard Huff Jr. and Richard Huff of Rockport, Tx and Ronnie Huff of Delaware. Grandchildren – Christopher Fitch, Zoey Fitch, James Flowers Jr., Natasha Flowers, Taizhon Huff, Mekhi Huff, TaKerra Huff, Jazzric Huff, Dynasty Harris and little princess Rhythm Huff. Siblings, Zelma Neal of Austin, Texas; Lucille Winn of Temple, Tx; Bobbie Griffin of Taylor, Tx; Rev. T. L. (Diane) Garner, Jr, of Taylor, Tx. Aunt Ruby Turner of Nashville, Tn, Uncle Chris (Lisa) Smith of Mesquite Tx, Elroy Sotglin of Dallas Tx, A special friend Joyce Brown, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Although Bettye never had any biological daughters, she affectionately loved many as her daughters and a few to name - Patrice Wilson, Chantelle Girdy, Tracy Cantu, Felicita Estrada, Angela Walls, and The Gillis Girls.
