Beverley "Bunny" Boutchyard, 71, of Fredericksburg, passed away peacefully while sleeping on Monday, December 11, 2023.
Bunny was born in West Virginia to James and Vivian McNeil. The family relocated to Fredericksburg, Virginia, where she grew up and graduated from James Monroe High School in 1971. After graduating, she enlisted in the United States Army. She was proud of her service to her country. Bunny served four years in the Army stationed at Ft. Bragg. After her honorable discharge, she remained at Ft. Bragg for an additional ten years as an administrative assistant. The latter part of her federal career, she worked for the Department of the Navy at the Pentagon. Bunny was a survivor of the attack on the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.
After retiring from the federal government, Bunny decided to start a second career with Northern Virginia Community College. She worked an additional five years at NVCC as a business consultant. In all aspects of her life, Bunny was a caregiver. Twice, she nursed her husband back to health and she was the primary caregiver for her sister while she struggled with health issues. Bunny was an angel on Earth to all who were blessed enough to know her and love her.
She is survived by her beloved dogs, Chica, Milo, and Otis; as well as, her beloved husband of almost 30 years, David "Jerry" Boutchyard; her siblings, Carol Dean Fines, Janice Brady, and James McNeil; her step-children, Mark Boutchyard (Carla) and Melinda Hendrix (Victor); her grandchildren, Eddie, Jarod, Ella and Kolby; and a very special niece, Melissa Williams, who was like a daughter to Bunny; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other loving extended family, and her cat, Nakita.
In addition to her parents, Bunny was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Sullivan.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Temple Baptist Church, 300 White Oak Rd., Stafford.
