Beverly Henry Mehaffey Atkins

ATKINS, Beverly Henry Mehaffey, 70, passed on June 7, 2024 at Kindred Hospital in Tampa, FL. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, wife, and friend.

She is preceded in death by her father, Terry Henry; her stepfather, Virgil Hughes; her husband, Steven "Andy" Mehaffey; her brother, David Henry; uncle, David Wilson; and cousin, Amy Consagra. She is survived by her mother, Eva Hughes of Oldsmar, who lovingly referred to Beverly as her "baby girl"; stepmother, Arlene Henry of St. Petersburg; daughter, Jennifer Mehaffey of Largo; son, Justin Mehaffey (Nikki) of Powhatan VA; sister, Buff Etheridge (Mel) of Reston VA; brother, Steven Henry (Wendy) of St. Petersburg; brother, Michael Henry of St. Petersburg; grandchildren, Parker Bayne and Logan Bayne of Largo; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; her second husband, Charles of Palm Harbor; and their two sweet Bassett Hounds, Noah and Ruby.

Beverly attended high school at Dixie Hollins in St. Petersburg and graduated from Hollins College in Roanoke, VA. As retired paramedic she dedicated her life to God, family and helping those in need, whether they had two legs or four. In Richmond, VA, she made her home and raised her children with her husband, Andy. There, she gave her angelic singing voice to the choir and taught preschool at Second Baptist, all while challenging her physical discipline at Tae Kwon Do and achieving her black belt. After retirement, she spent her time traveling to Tampa to visit her family before making it her permanent home. She enjoyed playing the harp and piano as well as sewing and competing against her grandchildren at Rock Band.

A visitation will be held in Palm Harbor at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens on Wednesday, June 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.

There will also be services in Richmond, VA starting with visitation on Friday, June 21st from 5 to 8 p.m. and a funeral service Saturday, June 22nd at 11:30 a.m. Graveside service to follow, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved Andy on what would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. Services will be held at Bliley's Funeral Home, 8510 Staples Mill Rd, Richmond VA.
