Beverly “Bev” Edgington was a beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother during her incredible 94 ½ years of life. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
We (her family) will remember Bev for her loving nature, her playfulness, smart and sassy spirit, and her occasional, endearing stubbornness.
Beverly had a long and full life. She was born on January 18, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, to two loving parents, Stanley and Velma (Robinson) Bryce. She grew up in Toledo enjoying camping and fishing with her family and where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Edgington in 1948. In 1965 their family moved to Bellaire where her brother Galeon Bryce and his family lived.
She was a career woman who worked in an office from high school to retirement. Bev worked in the sheriff’s office for several years and then campaigned for the Antrim County Treasurer, a position she held for 27 years until her retirement at 72 years old. Bev enjoyed her retirement for many years in Florida where she spent more time with family and meeting new friends and new adventures before moving back to Bellaire in her later years.
She was an avid reader during retirement, loved flowers and plants and discussing current events, social and political, with her family and an occasional trip to the casino for some fun. We (her grandkids) loved her connection to each of us and how she made each of us feel so special, loved and known. It was a gift she gave to those she was around. She listened, she remembered your stories and she let you know how important everyone was to her. We will miss her dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend with her, and we will always feel her presence in our hearts.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Robert and son Victor. Bev is survived by her three children Gail Cran, Rob (Diane) Edgington, Doug (Colleen) Edgington, brother Galeon Bryce, eight grandchildren, Missy Rainey, Meagan Wachter, Jennifer Hanson, Kevin Edgington, Robbie Edgington, Bailey Zacher, Robert Edgington, Tyler Edgington, Tony Edgington, and many great and great-great grandchildren.
Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Bellaire.
