I am looking at your book a year later and I remain in disbelief that you should have been taken from us. You did leave us with wonderful tokens of remembrance, asters, cardinal flowers and lots and lots of ferns.

Beverly was one of my step grandfather's three daughters. Her father married my grandmother in 1969. I spent a good amount of time with Beverly and saw the fruits of her labor over the years in my grandmothers backyard. She was so gifted in the landscaping arena. She was always so kind and treated me with respect. If my grandfather were still alive Beverly's death would have broken his heart but I take solace in knowing father and daughter can now spend eternity together.

I met Beverly over 12 years ago when she was doing some gardening work for the NYC Parks Department. She always struck me as someone who was wise and thoughtful and took great care in her work. I met her again years later in my own neighborhood of Inwood. She, walking her dog or lovingly tending the plants in a sidewalk tree pit; me, corral-ing or carrying my 2 small children up the long hill outside her building. We would chat about plants, urban gardens, and ways to beautify the local public schools with gardens. I got to meet her lovely niece Naomi during her brief stay in NYC.
I will miss Beverly and our chance encounters. She was a beautiful person inside and out. My deep condolences to her family.

Beverly was a great asset to Riverdale Country School. She was a visionary whose ideas were ahead of their time. Her work with us was all too brief.

Beverly had the greatest smile. She was and is an inspiration to all who came in contact with her. I will remember her always when I see a patch of flowers in this land of concrete.

My heart aches for each of you. I think back with great joy on many lovely childhood memories and Beverly as a part of that great throng of neighborhood kids. Always such a sweet and spirited girl! I hope that your memories will bring you some comfort during this trying time. Thinking of you and Beverly with great fondness.

You are still on our minds at Riverdale, and every time we look out over this campus we remember how much thoughtful beauty you brought to it. People still say, "I miss Beverly - she was a real artist" when they see some of the less successful landscaping attempts that have come to pass. But your fingerprint is still on the place, and you would love the gardens that have grown from the philosophical seeds you planted so long ago. Rest easy. - Debbie

Beverly achieved her vow: she was indeed kind and compassionate, and found many ways to improve this world. The world is poorer for her passing. I met Beverly in Inwood, and most of our encounters were on walks in Inwood park. Beverly was engaged and wise, and had a great sense of humor. She is much missed here in Inwood.

You brought beauty into the world that I was lucky enough to see every day. The cello times were a pleasure as well. Goodby, dear soul.
