It is with a peace which exceeds one's understanding, the Jones Family announces Beverly Lavon Jones obtained the ultimate healing on November 4, 2025, in Youngstown, Ohio. Born on May 2, 1956, in Camilla, Georgia, to the union of Cleveland Childs Sr. and Maxie (James) Childs, Beverly embodied the spirit of kindness and love from the moment she graced this world.
A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Beverly's journey was one of unwavering faith and compassion. Beverly obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Albany State University and was employed as back-office support staff for Sunlife Insurance Company until she opted to dedicate herself as a homemaker.
Beverly attended The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith in Pittsburgh, where she lived her life as a shining example of the Proverbs 31 woman, dedicating herself to nurturing her family and community with warmth and grace. Her warm heart brought comfort to those in need, and her Christian values guided her every action. She was truly a special lady, shining her light brightly throughout her life.
Beverly was married to the love of her life, Nathan Jones, and together they created a home filled with laughter, love, and shared passions. Their days were often spent in joyful companionship, whether solving crossword puzzles, exploring new destinations, or creating culinary delights in their kitchen-a place where her adventurous spirit flourished. Known for her culinary skills, she brought joy and nourishment to her family through her dishes, incorporating healthy ingredients like fish, chicken, and an abundance of vegetables.
Beverly embraced life with enthusiasm and vigor, taking care of her body and spirit through exercise and healthy living, embodying both grace and strength. She relished her roles as a mother to Mary Bonitia Jones, Christa Danielle Rowans, and Nathan Terrance Jones, instilling in them the values of love, faith, and resilience.
Her legacy lives on through her cherished husband, adorning children and beloved siblings: Cleveland Childs Jr., William E. Childs Sr., Michael W. Childs, Clinton L. Childs, Maxine C. Harris, Ernestine M. Childs, and Marilyn Childs-Wynter. Beverly will be remembered as a compassionate soul who left an indelible mark on all who knew her, including a host of family and friends.
As Beverly crossed the celestial sands into eternity, she joins her parents and brothers Freddie D. Childs and Harry L. Childs, Sr., each who preceded her in death. In the embrace of her memory, may we all strive to live as she did-with faith, love, and a tender heart. We have a certain hope as promised in John 5:24-25 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
Beverly will return to her hometown as a final tribute befitting her southern roots, allowing family and friends to gather honoring her legacy, reflect on her life, and embrace the love she shared so freely. A public viewing & family visitation will take place on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 2:00- 5:00 PM, at the Willie Watkins Funeral Home, 1003 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd, Atlanta, GA.
A Christian Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, 1159 Saint James Place NW, Atlanta GA, where Deacon Ronald Conyers will fulfill the role as officiant and Deacon James Jamison served as the eulogist.
After the committal ceremony, Beverly's remains will find rest in the serene meadows' grass of the Kennedy Memorial Gardens, 2500 River Road, Ellenwood, GA 30294, where it awaits the triumphant return of Jesus Christ.
At this time of intimate need and personal loss, the family of Beverly Lavon Jones elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with Transitional After-Care Arrangements to the J. E. Washington Funeral Services, 2234 Glenwood Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, 330.782.8500.
