CANTON - Beverly Jean Magda, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Bethany Nursing Home in Canton, Ohio surrounded by her family.
Beverly was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on June 13, 1935, to the late Raymond and Agnes (Kachurek) White. She graduated from Chaney High School in 1953.
Beverly was married to Frank A. Magda on June 18, 1960, until his death in 1985.
Beverly was employed as a secretary for the Youngstown Board of Education working at the Board of Education, Choffin Career Center, Woodrow Wilson High School and the auxiliary services for Cardinal Mooney High School.
Beverly was generous with her time and talents.
She was a founding member of St. Christine Church where she taught CCD classes, served as a Girl Scout leader, served as a Eucharist minister to the homebound and was a member of Infant of Prague. She was a member of the Chaney Class of 1953 reunion committee and enjoyed keeping in touch with her classmates. She was a life-long member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Beverly enjoyed playing cards with her neighborhood and high school 500 card clubs, loved a good game of bocce and playing the ponies.
Beverly leaves behind her three children, Patty (John) Crofford of North Canton, Frank Magda Jr. of Grosse Ile, Michigan and Karen (Ray) Tyndall of Lewis Center, Ohio. She leaves her three grandchildren, Chelsea (Dan) DiMarzio, Jessica (Joe) Datsko and Andrew Crofford all of the Stark County area and three great grandchildren, Colbie DiMarzio and Gus and George Datsko whom she adored. She leaves behind her sister, Nancy Wilhelm of Austintown, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, sister Judy Harrison and brother Gene White.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bethany Nursing Home for the loving care they provided over the past 2 ½ years. Thank you to the many family members and friends that made trips to Canton to visit her, the many who sent cards and notes and those who kept her close in their thoughts and prayers.
Family and friends may call from 9:30am to 10:45am on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at St. Christine Roman Catholic Church located at 3165 S. Schenley Ave, Youngstown, OH 44511. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests material donations be made to St. Christine Roman Catholic Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
