Beverly Joyce Hansen Morris

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother

May 1, 1929-December 6, 2025, Age 96

After a long and fulfilling life of love, laughter, and kindness, Beverly passed peacefully from mortality on December 6, 2025, at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Midvale, Utah, surrounded by family.

She was the eldest of three daughters born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lilo Dewey and Clara Vernice Midgley Hansen. She always had a deep love for her family, especially her parents.

Even after her parents and husband passed, Beverly continued to honor them by placing flowers on their graves. Birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries were remembered. It was important to her that the family graves were well maintained.

Growing up during the Great Depression and World War II taught Beverly the importance of work. In her early childhood she picked strawberries for 10 cents a day and worked as a concession stand cashier at Liberty Park. She always had a job and saved all but a small portion of everything she earned.

Her favorite subject in school was Geography. On Saturdays she would take the bus downtown to the American Express location where she gathered as many travel brochures as would fit in her paper sack to take back home and study. This activity developed into an interest that would remain with her throughout her life.

During Beverly's first year in High School, she worked part-time at the finest Department Store in Salt Lake City (Auerbach's). While cashiering in the Men's Clothing and Shoe Departments she met a very handsome young man whose name was Jack Morris. They quickly became friends and occasionally dated. After they both got off work, their dates consisted of dinner and a movie at the Centre Theatre. A bus ride followed to escort Beverly to her home, then Jack would walk to his home. Only one time, without her father knowing, did they take his car for a drive to the canyon. They drove home in reverse so the odometer wouldn't reflect the use of his car.

Their love story began in those store aisles and blossomed into an eternal partnership. On February 4, 1948, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple by Apostle Harold B. Lee. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Robyn and Shauna. Together they created a loving home filled with purpose, laughter, and enduring traditions. At Jack's passing on March 31, 2013, they had been married 65 years.

Their home reflected Beverly's exquisite taste, always orderly and welcoming. She was an immaculate housekeeper.

Beverly was a beautiful and elegant woman with a refined sense of style. She dressed for every occasion with care, turning even the smallest gatherings into special events.

Over their lifetimes, Jack and Beverly focused on things that would bring their family together and keep them close. The annual family reunion at Bear Lake will be remembered for trips to the ice cream store with Grandma and the pizza that had to be picked up with a truck. Brunch on special occasions at Little America, the Golden Corral Buffet on the Saturday before Christmas, family parties, sleepovers, and other activities created a legacy of traditions and memories for the whole family.

Trips were taken by either pulling their small travel trailer, going by train, plane, or grand cruise ships and often included her parents. These will be etched in her families' hearts forever.

Beverly excelled in business with true class. She and her husband Jack got their start in the travel industry by escorting tours for Beehive Travel. Together they founded Globe Travel in 1968 and in 1978 opened a new travel agency, Crossroads Travel. Their goal wasn't just to book trips, but to also build lasting relationships and make dreams come true. Beverly and Jack traveled the world and made life-long friendships and memories for clients in addition to providing travel opportunities for their children and grandchildren.

She was very generous to everyone whether it be a family member, an employee, or a friend. Things as simple as taking someone special to breakfast or lunch was a priority for her and would always make her day. In the early 1970's the tradition of taking Beverly's parents to breakfast at Village Inn began. After the passing of Jack and her parents, breakfast at Village Inn continued with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Those Village Inn breakfasts, especially for her grandchildren who remember the "funny face pancakes", were special times with her. Due to her declining health, her farewell visit to Village Inn was in March of 2025 ending a 55-year tradition of regular visits.

Autumn was her favorite time of year with the beauty of the fall foliage, warm days, cool evenings, and the return of college football. BYU was her team. Evidence of her loyalty as a fan was watching every game and in the license plate on her car "IM4BYU".

Beverly was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She appreciated excellence in all things, especially beautiful music. She loved to listen to the Tabernacle Choir perform whether it be by attending their concerts or watching the Spoken Word on Sunday mornings.

Beverly's life was truly a remarkable journey…gracefully lived, lovingly shared, and deeply cherished. She will be missed beyond words and will be remembered with great admiration and affection by all those whose lives were blessed by having known her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Robyn (James) Stoker, Shauna (Robert) Newman, one sister, Marilyn Cook, nine grandchildren, Ryan (Liz) Stoker, Kevin (Dayna) Stoker, Blake (Kristin) Stoker, Mark (Heidi) Stoker, Jeff (Jessica) Stoker, Angie (Andrew) Glauser, Scott (Kathy) Newman, David (Cassie) Newman, Greg (Sarah) Newman, and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, and great-grandson.

A viewing for Beverly will be held on Wednesday, December 10th from 10:00 to 10:45 AM. The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Both the Viewing and the Memorial Service will be at the Larchwood Ward (6770 South 500 East, Midvale, Utah).

Interment at the Salt Lake City Cemetery on Thursday, December 11th at 2:00 p.m.
