Beverly Robison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc - Durham on Jan. 8, 2025.
Beverly Marie Robison, age 70, of Durham, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Duke Hock Family Pavilion of neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer initially diagnosed and treated at age 40 at Duke but which recurred and progressed over the past several years.
She was born in New Castle Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late William C. Robison and Edith Jean Robison.
Following graduation from Neshannock High School, she attended the Ohio State University School of Allied Medical Professions and was a radiologic technologist at Ohio State and later in Fort Lauderdale Florida. There, inspired by physician mentors, she began night school at Broward Community College and subsequently moved to Durham, earned a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree, and graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at Duke University in 1988.
She considered her devotion to and care of her patients during her thirty-year career in the Department of Dermatology at Duke and the privilege to be trained by and work with some of the most talented health care professionals in the country to be the most rewarding experiences of her life.
Bev inherited her family's love of music and she played the piano. She enjoyed exploring artisans' galleries. She loved the outdoors and family outings to the beach and the Carolina mountains. In earlier years water skiing and sailing were relished fun. She loved her flowers, birdfeeder, her beloved golden retriever Millie and everyone else's dogs too. Bev was an avid Duke basketball fan and enjoyed the Duke Campus Club for several years.
She is survived by her sister Judith Jordan, many cousins, and their families, and by many dear dear friends.
Bev sends infinite thanks to her incredible medical team at Duke University Medical Center and to the wonderful professionals at Bayada Home Health Care in Durham, Catherine D. Ray DMD and her staff, and Dr. Michael Zenn on her breast oncology team.
A celebration of her life will be held at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 16th and all are welcome. No calling hours will be held.
Bev asks and would appreciate that remembrances be given as contributions to the Duke Cancer Institute in honor of the heartfelt compassionate care given to patients and their families by so many skilled, talented, hardworking, and dedicated heroes there.

Beverly was my neighbor at the end and I was always struck by her kindness and sense of community. She brought so much light to the community.

We met & worked together in Duke Dermatology and shared an office. We are life long friends since we met. We loved Duke basketball games and attended together many special moments, even asking what channel basketball game was on up until a few weeks ago! She & her mother shared hosting my wedding shower 20 years ago. She loved our new home in American Village and then planned with her Mom & sister to build their retirement home & move into our neighborhood. We helped her a few years ago move out from that home into her current apt. which she did herself to prepare for her end of life downsize. She has always lived within a few miles of me and I will miss her fun loving spirit and practical wisdom she offered in friendship and life! Photos one with Jay Bilas March 2010 & recent from Croasdaile Country club lunch outing with Mary Ann Martinez who flew in from Houston to visit Bev about a month ago. She cherished the moments we all reminisced about our Dermatology days working together! She was loved by so many patients and families!
