Beverly Carlson Smith

Beverly Carlson Smith, age 90, resident of Hixson, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father, Saturday, January 10, 2026. She was born in Santa Monica, California and lived several years in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Chattanooga, Tennessee. Beverly graduated from Red Bank High School in 1953, attended Chattanooga State Community College and Edmondson School of Business. She was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church where she worked and retired after 21 years of Christian service.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Sue M. Carlson; husband, George Rhea Smith; and daughter, Cynthia Lee Rankin.

Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer (Lawrence) Edwards, Beth (Ty) Byrd of Chattanooga; son, Byron (Heather) Smith of Hoover, AL; grandsons who she loved more than they'll ever know: Ryan (Amanda) Edwards, Christian, Madison and Hamilton Byrd of Chattanooga, Preston (Leah) and Nick Smith of Hoover, AL; five great-grandchildren.

There will not be visitation at the funeral home. A private family graveside service will be held in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Bill Harvey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may made to Red Bank Baptist Church.
