HYDE PARK - Beverly Jean Thompson, 57, a Hyde Park resident for 30 years and formerly of Lake George Village, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 in Kingston, N.Y. Mrs. Thompson was the owner and manager of Hearts Desire Cookies in Hyde Park for almost 20 years. After retiring from her cookie business, she enjoyed working with young children in daycare. In the early 1970s, she served as director of the Dutchess County American Cancer Society. She was a certified drug and alcohol counselor. She was a member of the Hyde Park United Methodist Church. Born in Saratoga Springs on July 21, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Alice Sutliff and her Step-Father, Harold Sutliff. She was a graduate of Hadley Luzerne Central School. On March 19, 1968 in Ballston Spa, N.Y., she married Edwin C. Thompson Jr. Mr. Thompson survives at home. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Edwin C. Thompson III and wife, Kathleen and their son, Ethan C. Thompson of Highland; a brother, Gary Wood of Gansevoort, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Norman Wood. Memorial calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 .m., Tuesday, at Sweets Funeral Home Inc., Route 9, Hyde Park. A Memorial Service will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the Hyde Park United Methodist Church, Route 9, Hyde Park. A reception will follow the service in the churchs fellowship hall. Rev. James W. Moore will be officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Dutchess County Chapter, Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., 12601.
