William Eadie was born in Cicero, Illinois on September 3, 1924 at home. Assisting at birth was his beloved maternal Grandmother, Agnes Gilmour with whom he had a very close relationship until her death in 1951. He was the elder of two sons born to Frederick Stafford and Mary Gilmour Eadie.
His school days were spent in Cicero Grade School and he graduated from J. Sterling Morton High School at the age of 18. In December of 1941, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps to serve his country during World War 2 where he spent his enlistment in the South Pacific repairing gunnery equipment.
Upon returning home he went to the Trade School at the Western Electric Company in Cicero, Illinois.
On October 4, 1947 he was married to Anne "Nancy" Alexander Neilson and to that marriage three daughters were born, Jan, Jaye and Joni.
After finishing school Bill began working in the Chicago area but building his career took him and the family several new locations: Kalamazoo, Michigan; Muncie, Indiana; Dayton, Ohio where he managed several food processing plants over the years. In 1968 he was asked to join VanMark Corporation in Creston as a design engineer where he worked for several years. Bill thought the opportunity of a lifetime came when he was asked to help establish the Southwest Iowa Sheltered Workshop, now Innovative Industries. He retired on October 1988 after 17 years as Executive Director.
In 1974, he purchased a farm northeast of Creston where he spent a great deal of time in the garden raising a bounty of vegetables. He also enjoyed raising collie dogs. He was a real animal lover.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Creston and served as a Sunday School Teacher, a Trustee and a Deacon.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anne "Nancy" Eadie; three daughters, Jan Eadie (Bill Morlan), Jaleyn (Alan) Dobbs and Joni Wood; seven grandchildren, Jon Frederick (Augustmae) Dobbs, Paul William (Hollie) Dobbs, Andrew James Dobbs, Jessica Jean (Dustin) Bendell, Katherine Anne Wood, Scott Douglas Wood and Gabriel Luis Hodgson; three great grandchildren, David Alexander, Lauen Elise Bendell and Levi William Dobbs; one sister in-law, Margaret Eadie; one nephew, Robert Eadie, one niece, Mary Susan Fritz and five great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Grandma, Agnes Gilmour; his parents, Frederick and Mary Eadie; one brother, Hugh Eadie and one grandson, Alexander Ross Eadie.
He went to be with his LORD peacefully at his home on July 25, 2010. He will be deeply missed by friends, neighbors and family including his beloved companion, Meggie.
