Mr. Bill Laney, age 72, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at MUSC Lancaster. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 22, 2024 at New Life Freewill Baptist Church by Pastor Doug Pate with burial to follow in the Lancaster Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mrs. Becky Burch, Jefferson, SC.
Mr. Laney was born January 23, 1952 in Pageland, SC a son of Minor and Susie Knight Laney. He retired after a long career in carpentry and following his retirement, Bill enjoyed working at the Lancaster County Recycling Center. He was a member of New Life Freewill Baptist Church. Bill enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and most of all being a “Pa-Pa” to his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Laney was also preceded in death by his son, Billy Gene Laney; granddaughter, Lacey Laney; siblings, Pete Laney, Lessie Hargett, Catherine Outen, William Laney, Edward Laney, Louise Nichols, Joann West, Frances Stevens, Richard Laney, Clyde Laney, and Titus Laney.
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy (Brian) Burch of Jefferson, SC, step-son, Scott Stevenson of Lancaster, SC; grandchildren, Carolyn Laney, Nicki (Jerry) Knight, and Jessica Knight; brother, Roy (Betty) Laney of Pageland, SC; sister, Carolyn Oliver of Greeleyville, SC; numerous nieces and nephews including special niece, Dot Gunthrope.
Memorials may be made to New Life Freewill Baptist Church, 1526 Summit Avenue, Lancaster, SC 29720.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home (www.mrcfuneralhome.com) of Chesterfield, SC is serving the Laney family.
