William "Bill" Mintzlaff born December 29, 1962 passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 30, 2023.
Bill was born in Rapid City to Ervin and Ruth (Overcast) Mintzlaff. He attended Hermosa grade school, Rapid City central and Western Dakota Technical school with a degree in Diesel Mechanics which helped him do what he loved most, ranching at the family home in Hermosa. Bill was mentoring his grandson Tanner to take over the family ranch in the hopes it would carry on. Their respect for each other was flawless.
Bill loved his John Deere tractors, Chevy pickups and rock music. In his downtime, he enjoyed watching old westerns. Bill was a "Simple Man".
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Margie Derby, whom he met in 1995 and immediately took on the fatherly role to her 3 children: Heather (Josh) Maddox (and their children Makayla and Dalton), Christopher Jackson, and Crystal Jackson (and her children Autumn and Tanner).
Bill is also survived by his brother Dan (Kellie) Mintzlaff (and their children Nicci (Josh) and son Everest), Nolan Casey, Brett Casey, Allison (Heath) Hawkins (and their children Braelyn and Dayton) and Danielle Mintzlaff.
Bill and Dan enjoyed daily games of baseball, basketball and shooting prairie dogs while working in the fields in the summers.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Ruth Mintzlaff-Sichterman, his brother Larry Mintzlaff, and Christopher Jackson.
