Bill Naus Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 20, 2025.
William Naus, Jr.

March 13, 1942-November 17, 2025

William (Bill) Naus, Jr. was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 13, 1942, the first son of William and Camille (Kroc) Naus. When Bill was 5 years old, the family moved to Berwyn, IL, where Bill lived until moving to Minnesota for college.

Bill graduated from Morton East High School in 1959. He also graduated from Morton Junior College. A chance meeting while camping at Lake Winnibigoshish led him to attend and graduate from Moorhead State College with a degree in Industrial Technology on June 10, 1966.

Bill designed and built a hydroplane to which he attached his grandfather's circa 1955 Johnson 5Hp outboard. Many hours were spent with family on the Pelican River which runs through the Tungseth farm. Bill also designed and built a mini-bike, which he brought to the farm to run up and down the road there.

On June 11, 1966 Bill married Judy Tungseth at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in Fergus Falls, MN. The couple lived in Cedar Falls, IA, for 2 years while Bill attended the University of Northern Iowa, working on his Master's degree, including a year of teaching Industrial Arts and Math at Orange High School in Waterloo, IA.

After moving back to Minnesota, Bill worked in Production Control at FMC Northern Ordnance Division in Fridley, MN, for 24 years. After that, Bill worked for 8 years at Varitronics (Brady) until retiring in 2003.

The family has lived in Brooklyn Park since 1969 and has attended Redeemer Covenant Church since 1980.

Bill passed away on November 17, 2025, surrounded by his family. He is loved and missed by wife, Judy; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas (Karen), Brett, Kyle (Erin) and Kevin; and grandchildren, Maria, Owen, Ethan, Keanue and Ariana. He is also loved and missed by his large Tungseth family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Camille Naus; and parents-in-law, Marvin and Myrtle Tungseth; as well as his brother, Allan; and brothers-in-law, Darrel Tungseth, Harold Pedersen and Rev. Dr. Richard Nelson.

Memorial service will be held at Redeemer Covenant Church, 7801 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Park, MN on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 11:00am, with visitation beginning at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Union Gospel Mission of St. Paul.
