Bill Shepherd

Bill Shepherd, 87, of Tellico Plains, passed away 11:04 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2026 at his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tellico Plains. He loved to work, read his Bible and enjoyed traveling. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Trae Bean; parents, Lewis Shepherd and Velma Kirkland Shepherd; sisters, Shirley Stewart, Bernice Peels and Burmel Cathey; brothers, Wickey Shepherd, Elmo Shepherd, Joseph Shepherd, Junior Shepherd and Jerry Shepherd. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Ruth Shepherd; daughters, Tina (Bryan) Howey and Wendy Shepherd; grandchildren, Nick Bean, Timothy Bean, April Denney, Lauren Shelley; great- grandchildren, Damon, Rowan and Everett; sister, Brenda Breedlove; sister-in-law, Rowena Meghji; nieces and nephews, Monica and Bud Meghji, Jeannie Winsted, Donna Moore and Michael Shepherd. Funeral 8:00 P.M. Thursday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Richard Parker officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Friday Tellico Plains City Cemetery with military honors by V.F. W. Post 5156, and American Legion Post 106. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Thursday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Tellico Plains.
