Mr. Bill Smith, age 82 of Butler, TN, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 10, 2025. He was a resident of Johnson County all his life. Bill was the son of the late Norman and Goldie Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Powell Smith; his son, Billy Smith; grandchildren, Makayla and McKinley Garland and Heather Stewart; brothers and sisters; and many friends he loved as family.

Bill owned and operated Smith Construction. He was a faithful member of Sink Valley Baptist Church. Bill will be so missed. He touched the hearts and lives of everyone he met. Bill’s greatest love and joy was praising the Lord and his family.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Mary Ann Smith; his daughter, Teresa Fox (Ed); 2 grandsons he raised as his own, Benjamin and Jacob Andrews; bonus daughters, Barbara Akers (Danny), Lisa Mains (Mike), Debbie Garland (Tim), Sharon Smith (Gary), Drema Tester(Jeff), Angel Allara (Teddy); grandchildren, Travis McCloud (Cassie), Kristin McCloud (Herb), Nick McCloud (Brandi), Thomas Guess (Lindsey), Jessica Guess, Landon Honeycutt, Nick Honeycutt, Lydia Honeycutt, Joshua Garland, Joseph Smith (Aubrey), Brandon Smith, and Mystery Smith; several great-grandchildren; Bill also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many special friends, Chris Putnam (Lisa), Bobby Matheson, Terry Wayne Proffitt and all of his church family at Sink Valley Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastors Harvey White and John Hammett officiating. The graveside service will follow from the Smith Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
