Born on Saturday, July 30, 1938, he was the youngest son of John Newton (J.N.) "Buster" Lamons and Emma Savola (Jordan) Lamons.
He decided to drift to greener pastures while in his recliner on the morning of Saturday, March 15, 2025.
With Saturday being his favorite day of the week, he could be found on those mornings for over seven decades at the Tahlequah Sale Barn, and as a young man, he even hauled cattle for Carl Greenhaw.
At the age of five years old, Bill started milking cows on the home place where he grew up. Being so small, he would have to get one of his three older brothers-Garl Gene, Leroy, or Tommy-to pour his bucket of milk into the tank. A grade "A" dairy farmer by trade, not the easiest career choice, he did choose the perfect partner to be by his side for over sixty-three years: Eva "Dyanne" Baker. Completely smitten with this brown-eyed girl, they married on August 15, 1961, at the courthouse in Stilwell, Oklahoma. They had three children: Lori Dyanne, Lana Dean, and Lynn Dee Lamons. Running their dairy farm for more than thirty-six years, they retired and began their beef cattle business.
A graduate of Tahlequah High School in 1958, he enjoyed playing football and was honored as Lineman of the Year on the Tiger's football team.
Not sure how he found the time, but Bill had several hobbies. He loved horse racing, rooster fighting, and coon hunting. His earlier years coon hunting were spent on Kalpin Mountain, not too far from where he grew up. He was a talented auctioneer and enjoyed antique bottle and coin collecting, as well as casting a line on occasion in one of his ponds or on Fourteen Mile Creek. He spent fun times going to the casino or a dice game "no one knew about." He had a green thumb and grew beautiful flowers of all types, as well as the tastiest tomatoes and watermelons there at Blue Springs in the Gideon community. But, if you knew Bill, his favorite pastime was deer hunting. Did he have some tales to tell, and he did! He loved company and visiting with anyone that would stop by, maybe just for a glass of sweet tea or to help with fixing their flat.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Illa May Lamons, Garl Gene (Ruth) Lamons, Leroy (Verlene) Lamons, Virginia (Odis) Hoffman, and Tommy (Geraldine) Lamons, as well as one nephew, Johnny Bryan Lamons.
He is survived by his wife Dyanne of the home; children Lori (Bart) Frank, Lana Lamons Burnett, and Lynn (Jennifer) Lamons; grandchildren Brookelyn (Michael) Miley, Barret "Bear" Frank, Beau Burnett, Austin (Jessi) Lamons, Hestin (Kaylee) Lamons, and Jayce Radosevich; great-grandchildren Kaden and Karsen Miley, Juniper Lamons, Lynnin and Lena Lamons; along with his baby sister Alice Ann Hamby and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He will be thought of often and missed every day.
