Billie Maier Obituary
June 6, 1933 - December 22, 2025
Billie W. Maier, age 92, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on December 22, 2025. He was born on June 1, 1933, in Callaway, Nebraska, to Edna and Johnny Maier.
Bill grew up near Cairo, Nebraska, where he met his future wife of more than 50 years, Janet Tagge. After serving in the United States Navy in Korea, he earned a degree from the University of Nebraska and taught high school mathematics in York before settling in Lincoln in 1964. He continued his service in the Navy for 38 years as a reservist and recruiter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, and his son, David. He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth, Kathryn, and Eileen; his son, Robert; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to honor Bill's life at a memorial service at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln, Nebraska (402-488-0934), on December 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences can be made at:
